Position Title: Support and Referral Officer- Sydney Street Choir Foundation
Engagement Status: 1 year maximum term contract subject to successful completion of 3 month probation review
Reporting to: Sydney Street Choir Foundation Board
Location: Various Inner City Locations with some travel to other parts of Sydney (as agreed)
Hours: 7 hours per week, which must include 3 hours each Thursday afternoon (other hours as agreed)
Pay: $25./hr + superannuation
Nature of Engagement: the engagement is on the basis that the successful applicant will be an independent contractor.

To connect with, inspire and empower those who are living or working in homeless or disadvantaged communities through creating music, performance and passionate expression that truly opens peoples 'hearts
Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of the Support Worker for the Sydney Street Choir is to support Choir members with adversities they face. This will include providing to Choir members support and referrals (to health and welfare professionals/agencies/services) as needed. The Support Worker will be responsible for identifying those Choir members needing additional support and linking them with health and welfare services to enable them to participate fully in the Choir program. The Support Worker will also engage in networking and increasing the profile of the SSC amongst welfare and community services in the inner city, with aim of developing better access to appropriate services for Choir members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the general direction of the Choir Director/Guest Choir Director to contribute to the achievements and mission statement of the Sydney Street Choir
- Provide support and referrals to Choir members in their dealings with adversities.
- Maintain existing networks and build new networks as needed with other welfare and community organisations to promote the work of the Sydney Street Choir to their clients and encourage new membership of the Choir.
- Manage OH&S responsibilities for SSCF
Essentials Criteria:
- Experience working with people who are disadvantaged or marginalised
- Sound time management skills
- Ability to multi task and work in a busy environment
- Knowledge of general and specialised community and health services available to disadvantaged people in Sydney (primarily inner city)
- Strong sense of social justice and desire to work within the mission statement of SSC
- Ability to work cooperatively with a team
- Ability to take initiative and be self motivated
- Knowledge of OH&S including conducting risk assessments
- Hold a current First Aide Certificate
- Ability to do administrative tasks from home- with access to a computer and internet
